Now you know when a review starts with that, it’s one of 2 things.. a bible review or a review of an album that has NO skippable tracks..
Nephilim opens this album with Gecko and what an opener it is, setting the bar from the offset.
But WAIT A GOD DAMN MINUTE.. Before we get into the tracks, I need to point out that the theme to this album may be missed by those who are uneducated in the Marvel world.
Ben Reilly is in fact Peter Parker’s (Spider-Man) clone.. Reilly plays the part of Scarlet Spider, a scarlet red Spidey suit, blue hoody donning hero, Neppy’s album cover depicts a similar hoody to this, Neppy can be found wearing a blue hoody in his visuals for Swift AA as well, basically Neppy could actually be the Scarlet Spider (absolute hero on the web)..
Anyway before I go off on a tangent and start writing the script for infinity war 7, back to the music..
Neppy comes in with Gecko and it BANGS, if you listen to the track, you will hear references to Ben Reilly’s existence, this track is pure ‘Carnage’ < (Spidey reference) in a great way .. Messiah Kaeto providing the canvas with an absolutely monstrous beat as always.. no bias but this guy is yet to disappoint me with his production and is always levelling up like he has some hidden secret cheat code for unlimited improvement skills.
Messiah also provided the beats for ‘Zombie’ and ‘3 Faces’..
Nephilim (hate calling him this, it’s like when you only ever call someone their nickname and are now being forced to use their birth name!) has always been great with structure when it comes to bars and the way the verses are composed in this track, it paints a perfect picture on Messiah’s canvas (metaphor master here)..
There is a video for this track featuring the blue hoody, it’s sick.
“If they tell you, that you can’t do shit, victory dance then dip”
Swift AA.. wow.
2nd track in and this album is still banging, after listening to the whole project, I think this is probably 1 of my favourite tracks on it.
The delivery is perfect, lyrics are venomous, the beat is hard and it’s perfectly put together..
Zombie.. catchy as fuck hook that sticks in your head!!
“MOVE ZOMBIE, MOVE ZOMBIE MOVE..”
Another FIRE Messiah Kaeto beat, Neppy adding the message, there’s a good little motivational aspect within the bars of this track depending on how you listen and take the lyrics in.
Dunno How.. this track comes in with a different delivery, Neppy switches his flow in stages of this song and it adds an extra element of audibility, keeps you listening, and the chorus is class as well.. some of the vocals on this are almost sung rather than rapped, this makes for a nice little change in the middle of the album.
Illternal’s beat on this is dope as!
3 Faces.. the beat comes in sounding quite sinister, Neppy follows with some HARD AS FUCK bars, honestly as this album goes on it’s like “how the fuck you gonna top that.. oh I seeeee, like that hey!”
Honestly, the beat is hard (Messiah Kaeto AGAIN!) and has this random sound in it that I can only describe as a Transformer(possibly Optimus Prime) beatboxing.. it’s fucking sick.
Bespoke.. beat by Pastor Duchie(what a fucking name! Lol) besides the cool name, the beat is nice, loving the constant dotting of the synth, tidy bass as well..
Lyrics are dope and is delivered with the execution of a medieval guillotine.
Cyanide.. “not just random lines or a bag of pantomimes, or fucking banter rhymes, ban the paracites” .. probably my favourite quotable of the album.. Neppy’s making a point on this track and you can feel it in the composition.
Don’t take cyanide though Neppy, we need you to provide us with music like this for time to come.
Green Fingers on the beat, which is dope!
Limits.. fucking LIMITS, if tracks were superhero suits, this one was made by Tony Stark.
It BANGS hard and has a message, I love this track!
I don’t know what else I can say other than this is THE favourite.. personally, you may not agree but this is MY review, get your own mate.
Indebted.. beat by Jmin and features Dave McPherson (InMe) on the hook, this final track is surprising because the style changes completely, Nephilim’s bars don’t lack though, hitting hard and remain intricate..
Dave’s vocal on the hook resonates and adds a huge element of depth to the track.. there’s a massive personal edge in this track and it is a perfect finishing touch to an amazing album.
Neppy, can you PLEASE make some shit music and give all the other rappers a chance!?
If there is one guy that deserves to blow, it’s Nephilim.
Keep up the good work Nepizzle.
